چکیده

Abstract Abstract: The goal of this project is to investigate damping techniques for the elastic wave equation. These are interesting from physical and numerical/mathematical point of view. The reason is that damping (e.g., friction) is often present in a system. Mathematically, damping leads to better regularity of the solid PDE equation, which is important for theoretical analysis of fluid-structure interaction for instance.Abstract: The goal of this project is to investigate damping techniques for the elastic wave equation. Numerical Solution of Seismic Wave Propagation Equation in Uniform Soil on Bed Rock with Weighted Residual Method

To evaluate the earth seismic response due to earthquake effects, ground response analyses are used to predict ground surface motions for development of design response spectra, to compute dynamic stresses and strains for evaluation of liquefaction hazards, and to determine the earthquake induced forces that can lead to instability of earth and earth-retaining structures. Most of the analytical...

مدل سازی عددی برخورد سیال لزج با صفحه الاستیک شناور در یک حوضچه محدود

The estimation of wave loads on very large flouting structure is usually done by an empirical or a computational approach. The computational approach usually assumes two types. Some use the Laplace equation or potential flow and some take the Navier-Stokes equation or viscous flow analysis. In this study, the interaction between wave and elastic plate is investigated by using viscous flow assum...

Rayleigh Wave in an Incompressible Fibre-Reinforced Elastic Solid Half-Space

In this paper, the equation of motion for an incompressible transversely isotropic fibre-reinforced elastic solid is derived in terms of a scalar function.   The general solution of the equation of motion is obtained, which satisfies the required radiation condition.  The appropriate traction free boundary conditions are also satisfied by the solution to obtain the required secular equation for...

Damped Vibrations of Parabolic Tapered Non-homogeneous Infinite Rectangular Plate Resting on Elastic Foundation (RESEARCH NOTE)

In the present paper damped vibrations of non-homogeneous infinite rectangular plate of parabolically varying thickness resting on elastic foundation has been studied. Following Lévy approach, the equation of motion of plate of varying thickness in one direction is solved by quintic spline method. The effect of damping, elastic foundation and taperness is discussed with permissible range of pa...

Dynamic and Static Pull-in instability of electrostatically actuated nano/micro membranes under the effects of Casimir force and squeezed film damping

In the current study, the effects of Casimir force and squeeze film damping on pull-in instability and dynamic behavior of electrostatically actuated nano and micro electromechanical systems are investigated separately. Linear elastic membrane theory is used to model the static and dynamic behavior of the system for strip, annular and disk geometries. Squeeze film damping is modeled using nonli...
